  Mike's Carp Candy

Mike's Carp Candy is developed and tied right here in Lawrence, Kansas by a professional fisheries biologist (pictured above). Made from TMC 200R hooks, high quality tanned rabbit skins in combination with custom dubbing of angora goat, antron, and rabbit with vinyl ribbing and bead chain eyes, makes this fly durable and irresistible to feeding carp. Won't make a big splash like heavily weighted flies but will sink slowly with the point up for fewer snagging chances. A local favorite for chasing the golden Kansas bonefish!
Fishing Technique
The most fun you can have with your waders on is sight casting to a feeding pod of mudding carp. Cast several feet in front of the lead fish, let the fly sink to just above the bottom, then strip the fly 6-12 inches. Most actively feeding fish will nail it between pauses. If it's a good size fish, get it on the reel as soon as you can. Prepare to see your backing zoom out the rod tip. Can't see the fish, but suspect they are there? Prospect with it using the same strip-pause-strip technique. While not as fun, it will catch a few fish that you didn't see. Use strong tippet material between 6-10 pound test rating. Take your time tying it on with a knot that you are comfortable with, it will be tested by even an average size carp.
The smaller sizes are also great on panfish!
